First of all I want to say KUDOS to the many people who put this tutorial together. Very concise and helpful. To me it was an enjoyable journey, sometime frought with pitfalls, but mostly enjoyable. Some of the exercises were more geared for the librarians than for the clerks, but it is okay that we at least have some knowledge of the programs and don't sound like complete idiots to future patrons.
Another thing I would like to note, some of us worked as a team which was cool, and I thought that it brought the department closer together. I would also like to thank the blog leaders here at YMPL for being so helpful.....of course working in the same department as the leaders did hurt us any!!!
Working with the pictures, bringing over videos and such from the internet was very exciting. As I said in my blog for the #22 thing, I am so thoroughly excited about the audio books. I listen to book on tape in my car, with these audio books to download on my MP3player, there will be such a LARGER variety to choose from, plus they won't be as cumbersome.
I would definitely be interested if another discovery program was offered in the future.

Thing #22 Audio books
I am so excited to be able to do this. I really can't wait to get started. I have looked around on our web page, checking out what we have available in audio. This a really amazing. I understand that there are some issues regarding space available on the MP3 player, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
Thing #21 Podcast
I visited various sights. I like the posibility of real time podcast. Checked out a couple of current event sights, interesting. I will visit these sights again

Thing # 20 9/4/2007
I had jumped ahead a little, I suppose. I had copied the video Women's faces in Art to my blog from YouTube. It is just amazing. While on vacation I showed the rest of my family the blogs, they were quite impressed. I have experienced many new commands and drills doing these excerises... now let's hope I can remember a fourth of them.
Speaking of family vacation. My husband and myself agree that this was the BEST ever. Just being there in Reno with children, grandchildren, brother, sister-in-law, sons-in-law, niece and her husband was incrediable. While just sitting at my brothers, just talking we all agreed that this was the best ever and that we are all getting closer with each vacation. This is our 3rd family vacation - we plan these every other year. This year the guys golfed(of course!). The first night we had a FIESTA, Wendy and I prepped all the Mexican food the day before - yum! And Eric and Michelle made "Cosigritas"(their version of the Margarita!!!) We had a family scavenger hunt with limos to boot another night, the ever favorite Game night, since we all are very competitive. The "girls" had a spa day. We were just on the go all the time. I told my "older" brother that "us older folks need naps!!! Must wait 2 years for the next one.....oh well, back to work

#'s 16 & 17
Took the tour on wiki's and also looked in the sandbox wiki. Very interesting. But it seems to me that there is way too much information out there. I'm not sure that I would use these tools on a regular basis, but it is nice to know they are there if the need arises. Signed up in the sandbox wiki in favorite vacations. Looked around a bit in favorite books and vacations spots.
Upward and onward......

#'s 13, 14 & 15
Well I read through about tagging and visited the del.icio.us websight. It sounds very interesting but I can't see me using this one on my blog. I like Library Thing better and it suits my purposes. 2.0 library sounds really interesting and would be very useful for the librarians. I probably come back to the del.icio.us website later
FINALLY, some rain. We still need more, but when I got up this morning the lawn was more green than brown.

July 19, 2007 #'s 8 & 9
Well, completed reading 8&9. I set up a Bloglines Account, easy. Had dinner with my girlfriend last week. She is the head computer tech at a mental health facility. I was telling her about the Blogs that we are setting up and the tutorials and......we were off, talked non-stop(who me??) for about 3 hours. She said that she hasn't heard of all of the stuff I had mentioned. I vaguely remember that outsiders could check out the tutorials, is that true? I'm certain my girlfriend would really get something out of this. Someone let me know ok??
Until next time......

Yes, we are raising the third generation of activist!!!
I am so excited that I was able to bring this picture into the blog. However, I didn't use flicker. I am about half way through reading about RSS's, so that will be my next project

7/6/2007 #'s 5, 6, &7 Flickr
I just finished the tour and listening to the information about Flickr, new information, more new "STUFF" to learn. I can't wait to try this. I am going to try and bring some pictures of my grankids over to the blog eventually, but I'll have to practice first. Comments on new technology seen resently. How about the new IPhone??? It really looks cool, but $600, NO WAY. I can buy LOTS of gas for that amount of money.....someday when I win the lottery!! Until later.....

7/2/2007 Setting Up and Reading #'s 1&2
At first I was a little hesitant starting this BLOG stuff. I listened to the tape regarding the 7 1/2 Steps to learning and thought, "Hey what the heck, it's something new to learn and when you get my age(DON'T ASK!!!) you need to keep your mind sharp and open to new things or you might as well just DIE or worse...have those "Senior Moments" all the time

The reason I chose "Weeding" in New Middletown is because it seems that is ALL I ever do. Finish weeding the flowerbeds.....time to start over. Don't get me wrong, I love gardening (and WEEDING of course) Weeding was a punishment for my girls. That was one of their chores on Saturday....they had to weed the sidewalk in front of our house. Well if that wasn't humiliation enough, their friends would come by, needless to say....
